Recently, my tank had a big problem. Something happened, we aren't sure what, that killed my corals, crabs, snails, etc. As if that wasn't bad enough, a brown algae rapidly grew all over the live rock like someone had scooped it out of a jar and spread it with a knife.
The LFS restocked me on crabs and snails. I put them in last night and already I can see how they've eaten a ton of the algae. The sand is whiter and the most of the rock that's on the sand is back to being purple. I wonder how long it will take the crabs to spread out in their search for more food. It's amazing how quickly they can consume the stuff.

Keys so sorry about your tank problems but it looks like it's back on the right path.
Depends on the amount of amount of algae, etc in the tank how quickly the crab army fans out and does its thing. Good luck!

they are workers, they will get the algae off, in no time. then they turn on each other.
